Blooms Taxonomy Bloom's Taxonomy is essentially a scale of questioning that is easiest on the bottom half and hardest at the top. Tests are often organised to reflect this type of questioning with the majority of questions in the lower half, but a number of questions also from the top half.
These harder questions are really good at determining the depth of a student's knowledge. Teachers will occasionally provide examples of these higher end questioning during regular class time.

"The Forgetting Curve" demonstrates why we HAVE to revise on a regular basis in order to successfully recall concepts.
Tip: Use the 15 minute Daily Lesson Review found at the bottom of this page every day. Think of it like this, you practise often to prepare for a sporting competition. You don't just practice the night before. The same thing with your brain, you must practise for that upcoming test often to give you the best chance of competing well. |
The TTM Target Model (video link) shows that there is a fluctuation occurring during learning. We often start between our Subconscious Ability (SA) and progress upwards above our Current Ability (CA) and into Potential Learning (PA).
This up and down movement in learning is known as "The Wobble". Our goal is to keep moving up stage by stage into the Learning Zone. It is much like learning to ride a bike, we have to wobble along as we are pushing ourselves to develop a new skill. IT IS GOOD TO WOBBLE, EVEN IF IT SOMETIMES FEELS A BIT UNCOMFORTABLE. |
